Tea Musings

Starting around October 3rd, Ed and I started brewing and drinking tea every night together (pu-erh... mmm). It has proven to be a delicious and effective way to wind down from a long day, slowing down our minds and focusing on being present. A friend of mine was recently talking about the concept of being present, and as I think about this more I am really starting to love it. I realized it's something I would habitually focus on while walking to / from work (about 1.5 miles), just listening to the sounds around me and trying not to think of anything but what was currently happening to me. So hard to do, but very fun! I have done this for years, just trying to listen to everything at once without thinking. Maybe that's why my hearing is powerful enough to sometimes be thought of as superhuman. :)

The last few days, I haven't had any tea, and I am realizing that this is not ok with me. Time to get back to brewing! I really think it does wonders for my state of mind, and recommend it to anyone as a way to destress and enjoy time by yourself or with a loved one. And if you want AMAZING tea with which to get started, I recommend contacting Zen Dog and finding a time to stop by his tea house for a tasting. http://www.teahousegallery.com/

Drink tea, be present, and have good dreams...

Who knew the mall could be so fun?

Or a full day photo shoot for that matter. Thanks to my pals at Redstone Pictures it was a really fun day, and a great "first photo shoot" experience. Normally more than one hour at the mall and I start to feel icky, a little panicky, and very grumpy. But four hours following my photographers and model around the mall and I'm really feeling good about what we were able to accomplish. Estan con talento, and they have a great living room too (fan of the red couch!) that gave us some great options. It also helped to have a fun model (6 ft and counting - holla Lisa!) who made us laugh throughout the day. All in all a fun experience... and the workaholic in me even managed to be checking and responding to work emails with one hand and attempting to art direct with the other. FELIZ LUNES! Ahora es el tiempo para cena y fĂștbol!

October - it's on

Just got the living room workout center set up - treadmill, medicine ball, free weights, bench & bars, billy bands. Ready to get in serious shape pre-holidays, make some wicked art, get back into that Rosetta stone and learn me some Spanish - pretty much meet life head-on.

Ode to Lisa (from the WWU days)

Lisa Marie is so cool
such a shark when she's playing that pool.
It sure would be nice
if I won once or twice
but alas, she continues to rule.
